Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP)
Are you experiencing...
- Fever
- Cough, sometimes with phlegm
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain or discomfort
It is important that you consult with your physician if you experience one or more
of the above symptoms. These symptoms may be caused by community-acquired pneumonia
(CAP). There are several kinds of bacteria that cause community-acquired pneumonia;
the most common is Streptococcus pneumoniae (STREP-toe-KAWkus new-MOE-nee-ay). CAP
causes fluid to accumulate in the air sacs of the lungs. It is a serious infection
of one or both lungs.
